PQF Viewer - Thin Client Information

The PQF Viewer works in thin client environments, and has been tested extensively with Citrix on most server platforms.

To install the PQF Viewer in a Thin-Client environment, see the 'Standard Operating Environment' (SOE) information section. This section contains 'raw' executables and INI file parameter information, sufficient to enable test or full scale installations in a Thin-Client environment.

PLEASE NOTE: The standard installation (InstallShield) package automatically detects if the workstation is running in a Thin-Client environment and, if so inhibits the installation from proceeding past the start-up screen. This is done deliberately for two reasons:

1. As Thin-Client system administrators will know, when a standard installation package runs in a Thin-Client environment, the package will install correctly, but the area of disk it installs to is typically erased by the Thin-Client server when the Thin-Client session is closed. Therefore the next time the user starts the Thin-Client session the PQF Viewer installation will have broken links.

    

2. It only takes one Thin-Client user with admin rights installing a standard InstallShield package and all existing users on the same server become unworkable for the reason given above (1).

PLEASE NOTE: While the PQF Viewer is free to be installed, deployed, copied, packaged, etc; it is a requirement of the PQF Viewer's Software License that the Software License (RTF) file is installed in the same folder as the PQF Viewer's executable. This section of the web site is for the more technically oriented, and contains information relevant to deploying the PQF Viewer in organizations where a 'Standard Operating Environment' is the norm. As such it contains access to the 'raw' executables, and information on the INI file parameters, such as how to cause a 'first-time' auto-configuration of the PQF Viewer (if desired), etc.

This section currently has a main page with two sub pages specific to PQF Viewer deployment on either Microsoft Outlook and Novell GroupWise, or Lotus Notes based workstations.

Information on this page is relevant to deployment on either of the two corporate email transports.
